On December 28th, 2023 , the Honourable Marc Miller, Minister of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada, announced the plan to open a pathway for people from Sudan (citizens and non-citizens) to reunite with their family members in Canada permanently if they:
resided in Sudan when the conflict began on April 15, 2023, and
are extended family members of Canadian citizens or permanent residents
To be eligible, applicants must be a child of any age, grandchild, parent, grandparent, or sibling of a Canadian citizen or permanent resident who is living in Canada. The family member in Canada will need to agree to support them and help them build their new life in Canada. More information will be available on the IRCC website soon.
It is important to note that the new PR pathway will be for both Sudanese nationals and Non Sudanese nationals who have been residening in Sudan when the conflict began On April 15, 2023
